REI Oklahoma has released its year-end report on activities and economic impact from its development services delivered in 2013. During this time, the economic output catalyzed by the organization amounts to more than $216 million, facilitating the creation and retention of 825 jobs throughout the state of Oklahoma.
Highlights of the economic impact are as follows:
• An entrepreneurial spirit was cultivated among 2,248 small business owners through training and/or business counseling delivered by REI Women’s Business Center (REI WBC). The REI WBC is funded in part by the U. S. Small Business Administration and services are available statewide from three locations: Durant, Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
• REI Native American Business Centers affected 172 jobs, through initiatives among minority-owned businesses.
• $141 million was made available by REI Business Lending to fund and support 36 Oklahoma business owners, affecting 527 jobs.
• Collaboration between REI Down Payment Assistance and local mortgage lenders yielded results for 217 Oklahomans dreaming of home ownership.
• Workspace was made available to 126 employees by REI Oklahoma’s commercial facilities program.
